The election is still going on. Still counting votes.

Biden asking people to be patient. Trump threatening, everyone. He is not ready to give up his power…

There is a resting anxiety that sits like a film over life these days. The pandemic. Politics. I can feel it. I can feel that other people feel it.

Yesterday was a very hard day at the office; didn’t get home until 10pm. Well, I got home but then had to leave right after arriving. We had some major network issues that had to get fixed. It is important work. I understand that. What is hard to understand is how you balance important work and the rest of the important things. OR, maybe you don’t. Maybe work life balance was something that some copywriter created because it sounded cool. Who knows…

I do wonder how to simultaneously grow your career while also increasing your freedom. They appear to be mutually exclusive in the traditional model. The higher you go up, the more ‘stuff’ you have to be responsible for and the less freedom you have. Maybe that isn’t always the case but it has proven pretty accurate for me. A supervisor once told me, you are in a leadership role, you are never ‘off.’ How comforting…

It would be nice to be ‘off’ sometimes.

In other news, the weather has been amazing and riding around in the Jeep with no doors has been literally like mobile therapy. There is something about feeling that cool wind that just makes me feel alive… (as you roll your eyes). It might sound cheesy but it is the best description I can think of.

I think the thing about it is that you are literally just immersed in your surroundings and you can’t help but pay attention to them which has a calming impact on the mind.

I think Beckett and I are going to camp out in the tent this weekend. That should be fun. Sounds like a nice way to spend my time ‘off.’
